Session objectives

  • Develop a shared understanding of perinatal mental health and its impact on mothers, children, families and the health system as a whole, drawing on research findings from the field as well as the practical experience shared by the speakers.
  • Identify concrete and operational measures that health facilities can adopt to provide an integrated package of care that effectively addresses perinatal mental health within primary healthcare services, based on the research findings and practical experiences presented by the speakers.
  • Facilitate a participatory exchange with participants following the presentations, to discuss the topic and share experiences from the field.
