Be-cause health is the global health platform that connects organisations and experts in Belgium and internationally, and stimulates collaboration.
There were almost 300 participants at the Egmont Palace in Brussels for a stimulating Be-cause health International Conference 2026 around one essential question: “Do we care?”
Stefaan Van Bastelaere, former chair of Be-cause health: "Across very different experiences from Africa, Europe and Asia, one message stood out: quality care is not only about services. It is about equity, dignity, participation, trust and putting people (right holders) at the center of our action.
The conference brought a powerful message: 'In times of polycrisis, quality care must remain equitable, people-centered and accessible to all. The only way forward is integration of human rights based approaches (HRBA) in all our actions, as parallel session and keynote speakers highlighted.'"
