Be-cause health is the global health platform that connects organisations and experts in Belgium and internationally, and stimulates collaboration.
Recent years have shown how quickly infectious disease threats can emerge, overlap and spread. The term “multidemic preparedness” refers to preparedness for contexts in which several infectious disease threats occur concurrently or successively, often in interaction with humanitarian crises, conflict, displacement, climate-related pressures or weakened health systems. These overlapping emergencies place severe strain on health systems and communities and expose the limits of responses designed around single-disease approaches. Their increasing frequency and complexity call for approaches that reach across sectors, disciplines and stakeholders.
The Working Group aims to strengthen dialogue, mutual learning and collaboration and to advocate, on the basis of shared evidence, for stronger and more equitable approaches within a global health perspective.
The Working Group adopts a global health perspective and may address preparedness challenges and experiences from a variety of settings and regions. Specific geographical or thematic areas of attention may be identified over time, based on members’ expertise, shared priorities and emerging opportunities for collaboration.
