A conference from the Be-cause health Working Group on Digitalisation supported by Enabel
8 December, 5-6 pm CET, ICAB Incubator & online
The “Because Health” e-health working group is organising its on-site and online conference on “Scaling local and digital solutions for healthcare access”.
Join us for the on-site event Thursday 8 December from 5pm to 6pm at ICAB Incubateur, Rue des Pères Blancs 4, 1040 Brussels. We will also be online: register here!
The conference will be followed by a meet and greet around a coffee break.
What is this conference about ?
Whether it is to improve access to primary health care, clinical tests, diagnoses, public health policy diagnostics and decisions through efficient information systems, and personalised medical treatment, the possibilities offered by digitalisation in the health sector are numerous for both high-income and low- and middle-income countries.
In this context, how do we move from promises to concrete implementations that have an impact on access to affordable and quality healthcare and thus contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. This question is even more relevant in countries with low resources and challenges such as power cuts or unstable internet access.
This webinar will feature two digital solution development initiatives: 3D prosthetics by Ugani Prosthetics & smart glasses by Iristick, promised to facilitate access to affordable and quality healthcare in low-resource country contexts. For each of these initiatives, it would be interesting to focus on the operational constraints and solutions, while critically reflecting on the limits of digitalisation.
Join us for an interactive conference with demos of the solutions on Thursday 8 December from 5 to 6 pm at ICAB Incubator, Rue des Pères Blancs 4, 1040 Brussels. Please confirm your attendance by clicking here, before December 1st.
Join 2 tech-savvy speakers in the implementation of digital solutions in LMICs!
Joren Vallaeys, co-founder and COO of Ugani Prosthetics
Ugani Prosthetics is a Belgian start-up that develops high-quality & low-cost 3D prosthetics and orthotics, to give every amputee the right to a decent life. Ugani trains Orthopaedic specialists in the use of 3D technology and makes devices locally. This helps to revolutionise the O&P industry with 3D, leading to a lower price for the patients and society as a whole. The Ugani procedures are currently used in Ghana, Benin and DRC, and deployments in several LMIC are underway.
Having worked within several European start-ups, the founders of Ugani want to address the difficulties of access to healthcare from a pragmatic perspective by providing efficient solutions and have adopted the motto ‘Actions speak louder than words’. Joren will give a live demonstration of the creation of a prosthesis.
