Hoang Thi Giang

I am a lecturer and researcher, serving as the vice-dean for the Faculty of Public Health at Haiphong University of Medicine and Pharmacy (HPMU). I have extensive experience in epidemiological research on public health field such as HIV/AIDS and drug use, occupational health, adolescent reproductive health, etc. My research has been well published in Vietnamese national peer reviewed journals, especially some of them have been published in international peer reviewed journals such as Lancet, Drug and Alcohol Dependence, International Journal of Drug Policy, Biomed Research International Journal.  I have served as a project leader or principal investigator to various projects in HPMU, which were funded by National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA, United States) and National Agency for AIDS Research (France) since 2014. During almost 10 years serving in this position, I have demonstrated my ability to work effectively with community groups, vulnerable population, local authorities and stake holders. One of my advantages is that I am trilingual, including English, French, and Vietnamese, that allows me to interact and cooperate with foreign partners in developing research in Vietnam. For my postdoctoral training, I will continue to build on my previous training on public health research methodology and implementing community interventions address the vulnerable population. I am confident this proposed research project and training plan on gender-based violence will provide me with additional knowledge and skills to work with vulnerable population, providing important scientific evidence in improving gender policy in Vietnam.
