Description

In the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, Guatemala is facing a growing disinformation activity related to the outbreak in the country. Rumours and fake news on the disease are spreading fast, both in rural communities and urban municipalities. What are their implications on national and local control measures? What is their impact on the health situation in the country and which collateral damage are they provoking? What type of actions are put in place to track these rumours and to raise awareness of the dangers of this fake news within rural and urban communities?

These questions will be answered by ITM alumnus Guillermo Hegel (MPH, 2016 & EV, 2018) involved as General Manager of the COVID-19 Response project lead by Project Concern Internacional (PCI Global).
